The face Roxas presents to the world is quiet, guarded, cautious and cynical; sensible in the way a certain sort of teenage boy tries to be sensible. He resists being affected by other people and he's wary to a fault of taking anything at face value, whether it's friendship or the situation he's in. He's not scared of believing in things (since he can't really be scared in the same way normal people are) so much as he is reluctant. Experience has proved to him that your best friend can be lying to you about the things you most urgently need to know – and that the world around you could turn out to be a fake at any moment.
When he's comfortable – or angry – enough to let his veil of apathy drop, Roxas is proud, stubborn, determined; he has a sort of wary, skeptical curiosity and a blunt, sarcastic sense of humour that sometimes fails to quite hit the mark. Around some people, he sometimes even smiles.
He values truth and independence, and is driven by the need to assert himself as his own person.
He's bad at lots of things, like social interaction and caring about people, and he's not good at very much at all, except for fighting. He is, however, very, very good at that.
Roxas doesn't really trust anyone, but there are a handful of people he almost trusts:

eighthember) – his best friend, and the biggest influence on his personality, believe it or not. Roxas takes him for granted but is more comfortable in his company than in anyone else's.
Yuffie (shadowpunch) – his officially assigned responsible adult. For this reason Roxas is loath to admit he tolerates her at all, but she's grown on him quite a lot.
